"Kingsdown", the prefix of Gwenneth Mosdale since 1969, has endeavored to improve the Standard Poodle in appearance and temperament while still maintaining the intelligence that is well known to this breed.
Kingsdown Poodles are world-renowned. In 1950, Gwenneth's father bought her her first miniature poodle. After several years had passed, she was at the Stanley Park Dog Show in Blackpool, England and was introduced to her first Standard Poodle. She immediately fell in love with the Standard Poodle and promised herself that when she got to America, that she would buy herself a Standard Poodle. That is where it all began. When Gwenneth realized that this was going to be her life goal, to produce beautiful poodles, she decided to get a prefix. After many, many hours of thought, her brother, Arthur, the owner of the Kingsdown Hotel in Devon Cornwall, England, said to her, "why don't you use the name, 'Kingsdown'?" And it has been that ever since.
Through the years, Gwenneth has been breeding and showing her world-class line. She has also had the pleasure of making a series for television, called "Pet Peaves" for NBC. Gwenneth was also chosen as a Top Breeder of Standard Poodles for "Poodle Variety" magazine. Further, she authored an article entitled, "Grooming Your Puppy" for "The Poodle" magazine in 1985.
